E-Days at CISD

e-Day Information for Students & Parents

Cuba Independent Schools has pioneered a one-on-one laptop computer E-Days, an alternative to snow days and other challenges which force schools to close. School days that are canceled would normally need to be made up at the end of the school year. E-Days allow the school day to continue where students complete assignments from home, on their school issued laptop. It also provides teachers and students the opportunity to engage with digital resources, to collaborate virtually, and to develop digital skills that are used and valued beyond K-12.

Effective Fall 2019, NM PED has granted Cuba Independent Schools (CISD) the right to implement E-Days as an alternative to school closures due to inclement weather and other challenges. CISD understands that not all students have access to internet at home, therefore we are implementing E-Day assignments that can be done without internet access from home.

Student Expectations:

  • Students will download all work provided by teacher(s) to their laptop on a weekly basis
  • Students will complete all assigned E-Day work for classes they would have attended on the E-Day
  • Completed work will be submitted for each class that the student would have attended on the E-Day.
    Students will be allowed time to submit work via Google Classroom during the morning on the day they return to school
  • If student does not submit work for the E-Day, student will be marked as absent for that day

Note: Teachers will provide an E-Day assignment once a week, which pertains to their curriculum being taught. Students will download this assignment to their computer to be accessible without the need for internet connection. Teachers should not be posting the E-Day assignment on the day of the E-Day.

It is the responsibility of the student to check their school Email/Google Classroom on a regular basis to verify assignments are posted and to download to their computer. Students are to complete the assignment(s) only for those classes that they would have normally attended on the day of the E-Day. Once completed, students must submit the assignment(s) via Google Classroom (unless otherwise directed by teacher) the morning when returning from an E-Day. If the student does not submit work the morning when returning from the E-Day, they will be marked as absent for the E-Day.
